There’s a deep pattern here, and it’s the pattern of the cross.
We must die to live.
Jesus did not deem equality with God something to be grasped
but rather emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave.
And therefore—therefore—he is highly exalted.
That’s the pattern: self-emptying. Kenosis.

There’s a deep pattern here and it’s the pattern of the Incarnation.
God is always embodied, in the world,
and so everything is messy and complicated
and the larger order is never really clear.
It is always glimpsed.
